Privacy Policy
1. The short version
The Neon Arrows is a single-player puzzle game. We do not collect, store or transmit any personal information about you. There is no account to create, no sign-up, no email address to hand over, and no server of ours that your data is sent to.
Your progress lives on your device. If you uninstall the game, it is gone.
The only data leaving your device is what Google's advertising service collects in order to show ads, a crash report if the game fails, a record of how far you got so we can find the levels that are unfair, and — if you choose to sign in — what Google Play Games needs to put your score on a leaderboard. All four are described below.
2. What we store on your device
The game saves the following locally, using Android's own storage. None of it is transmitted to us:
- Your current level, highest level reached and levels completed
- Coins, awards earned, and daily-challenge streak
- Which arrow skin and board theme you have chosen
- Your settings — haptics, animations, reduce motion, high contrast
- A randomly generated number used to produce your in-game name and avatar
That last point matters: your in-game name is generated, never typed. There is no free-text field anywhere in the game, so there is nothing for you to enter your real name into and nothing for us to store or moderate.
3. Levels you build and share
The game lets you draw your own level. While you are drawing it, and after you save it, that level lives only on your device — exactly like everything in section 2.
Pressing SHARE is what changes that. To give your friend a short link that opens the level, the level has to be stored somewhere their phone can fetch it. So when you press SHARE, we upload:
- The board itself — the grid and the arrows — so the link can open it
- How many times it has been opened and finished, and the fastest time
- Your Play Games player ID, only if you are signed in, so you can find and delete your own levels
- That your player ID opened this level, only if you are signed in, so "played by 5 people" counts people rather than taps
We never upload any text you have typed. Levels are named by the game — for example "Copper Causeway 77" — and that name is worked out from the board itself rather than stored. The name shown against a level you built is also generated by our server from your player ID, not taken from your Play Games name. There is no free-text field anywhere in the game.
If you are not signed in to Play Games, a level you share carries no identifier of any kind. It is a board and nothing else.
Deleting a level in the app deletes the uploaded copy too, if you were signed in when you shared it. Anyone you already sent the link to will no longer be able to open it. A level shared while signed out cannot be deleted from inside the game, because there is nothing to prove you made it — email us and we will remove it.
Reporting. If somebody sends you a level you think should not be there, you can report it from the game while signed in. We record which level was reported, who reported it, and one of three fixed reasons — there is no free text. A level three different people report is hidden automatically and reviewed by hand.
We also count how many people start and finish each of the game's own built-in levels, and the fastest time. That is a plain count, not tied to you unless you are signed in.
This data is stored with Supabase, a database provider, on servers in India.
4. Android backup
If you have Android's own backup switched on, your phone copies this game's data to your Google account so a new phone can restore it. That is between you and Google — we never see it, and you control it in Android Settings → Google → Backup. It covers your progress, settings, owned skins, the levels you have built, and which shared levels you have opened.
5. Advertising
The game shows ads supplied by Google AdMob. To do this, Google may collect and process:
- Your device's advertising ID
- Device information — model, operating system version, language, network type
- Approximate location, derived from your IP address
- Information about ads shown to you and whether you interacted with them
We never see this data individually. We only see aggregate totals of how many ads were shown. Google's handling of it is governed by their own policy: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent form the first time you open the game, asking whether Google may use your data for personalised advertising. You can change that answer at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices inside the game.
You can also reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device's settings, under Google → Ads.
6. Google Play Games (optional)
The game can connect to Google Play Games Services so that scores appear on leaderboards and awards are recorded against your Play Games profile.
This is entirely optional. Every part of the game works without it. If you do not sign in, you simply see your own scores instead of a global ranking; nothing is locked, hidden or reduced.
If you are signed in, Google provides the game with your Play Games display name and player ID, and we send Google:
- Your highest level reached
- Your daily challenge score
- Your total arrows cleared
- Which awards you have earned
We store none of this ourselves. It lives with your Play Games profile, which you control at https://myaccount.google.com — including deleting it.
Saved progress
If you are signed in, your progress is also saved to your own Google Drive, in a private folder that only this game can see. It holds your level, your coins and which skins you have unlocked — enough to carry on where you left off on a new phone, and nothing else.
We cannot read it. It is stored under your Google account, not ours, and it never reaches any server we control. You can delete it at any time from the Play Games app, or by deleting the game’s data from your Google account.
If you are not signed in, none of this happens and your progress stays on the device.
7. Crash reporting
The game uses Firebase Crashlytics so that when it crashes, we find out why.
If the game crashes, Google sends us a report containing:
- What the app was doing when it failed, as a stack trace
- Your device model, operating system version and available memory
- Whether the app was in the foreground, and how long it had been running
- A random identifier, so repeated crashes on one device can be counted as one problem rather than many
It contains nothing about you. No name, no email, no advertising ID, and nothing you did in the game beyond where the code failed. We use it to fix faults, and for nothing else.
Google's handling of this data is covered by their privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
8. How the game is played
The game uses Firebase Analytics to tell us how far players get, so that we can find the levels that are unfair rather than hard.
What is recorded is only this:
- Which level was started, finished, or left unfinished
- How long a level took
- Whether the daily challenge was played
- How often the game is opened, and on what kind of device
We see totals, never people. The reports show us that, for example, most players stop at level 23 — which tells us to go and fix level 23. They do not show us who those players are, because nothing identifying is ever sent.
We do not record your name, your email, your advertising ID, anything you tap outside the game, or anything about you as a person. There is no profile of you in there to look at, and we could not build one from what is collected.
Google assigns a random app instance identifier so that one device's sessions can be counted as one player rather than many. You can reset it by clearing the app's data, and it is deleted when you uninstall.
Google's handling of this data is covered by the same policy as above: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
9. What we do not do
To be explicit, the game does not:
- Ask for or receive your name, email address, phone number or date of birth
- Access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, files or precise location
- Track you across other apps or websites
- Contain any advertising or analytics SDK beyond the four named on this page
- Sell your data, or share it with anyone beyond the providers named on this page. What we hold is described in section 3 and nothing else
Permissions
The game itself requests exactly one permission: VIBRATE, so it can buzz when you clear an arrow or hit a blocked one. You can turn that off in Settings.
The Google Mobile Ads library adds several more of its own, which Android lists against the app even though we never call them directly:
- INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to fetch ads and leaderboards
- AD_ID and the ACCESS_ADSERVICES_* permissions — Android's advertising ID and Privacy Sandbox interfaces, used by Google to select and measure ads
- WAKE_LOCK and FOREGROUND_SERVICE — used internally by Google Play services
The game requests no permission that would prompt you at runtime. It never asks for contacts, photos, camera, microphone, files or precise location, because it has no use for any of them.
10. Children
The Neon Arrows is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from them. We have no way to identify a user's age because we collect nothing that would indicate it.
If you believe a child has provided information through this app, contact us at theneonarrowsescape@gmail.com and we will help you address it — though in practice, there is nothing held that could be returned or deleted.
11. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete on request. What exists is:
- On your device — remove it by uninstalling the game or clearing its data in Android Settings → Apps → The Neon Arrows → Storage
- With Google — governed by Google's own policy, and controllable from your Google Account settings, including your advertising ID and your Play Games profile
12. Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear at this address with a new date at the top. Significant changes — particularly any that involve collecting data we do not collect today — will be announced in the app's release notes before the build that makes them ships.
Terms of Service
1. Agreement
By installing or using The Neon Arrows, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and play The Neon Arrows on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.
You may not decompile, reverse-engineer, modify, redistribute, or sell the app or any part of it, except where that right cannot lawfully be restricted.
3. In-game currency
The game contains coins, which are earned by playing and by watching optional advertisements.
Coins have no monetary value. They cannot be bought, sold, exchanged for money, or transferred between accounts or devices. They exist only inside the game. There are currently no real-money purchases in The Neon Arrows.
If coins are lost — through uninstalling, clearing app data, changing device, or a fault in the app — we are not obliged to restore them, and generally cannot, because the record of them exists only on your device.
4. Advertising
The game is free and funded by advertising. By using it you accept that ads will be shown.
Some ads are optional and clearly marked: watching one can earn a hint, an extra life, or double coins. These are always your choice, always labelled before you tap, and never required to continue playing.
We do not control the content of individual ads, which are served by Google. If you see an ad that is inappropriate or misleading, please report it to us and to Google.
5. Leaderboards and fair play
Leaderboards are provided by Google Play Games Services. We may — and Google may — remove scores that appear to have been obtained by modifying the app, tampering with your device's clock, or otherwise not by playing the game.
Weekly leaderboard rewards are granted when you next open the game after a week ends. Because Google retains only the current and previous weekly period, a reward not claimed within that time cannot be recovered.
6. Availability
We provide the app as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, that it will be free of faults, or that it will run correctly on every device.
We may update, change or discontinue the app at any time. Play Games leaderboards and advertising depend on Google's services, which we do not control and cannot guarantee.
7. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including lost progress, lost coins, or lost leaderboard position.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Nothing here removes any protection you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
